Deck of the Day: TdM Heron

TdM - Heron

This is a deck that I've had, passed on, and then reacquired. It is, I believe a photoreproduction. I like that it has all the blotches and skipped lines of the original. Never cared for the bright whiteness of the outer borders, but that is a common complaint of Marseille decks in general. *shrugs*

Cardstock is stiff and sturdy. These cards were meant to last. The size is very nice, in hand. I would like them to be a nicer shuffle, but they are a bit too stiff for me.

Today I ask: Tell me a story...

Ace of Cups - Death - Le Pendu

Something new is beginning which will cause/require an ending, so that I can see things in a new light.

I kinda like this.

Deck of the Day: Ancestral Path Tarot

As morning just feels like a time for me to read, and the deck chosen this morning was one I could get at without undo rummaging, I get to share a part of my morning with the lovely Ancestral Path Tarot.

It was given to me by a dear friend, in the gorgeous bag that she made for it/me.

I love how the cat's eye beads shimmer in the low light of the laptop. All here are sleeping, but me. Its a quiet and personal time. A perfect time for self reflection.

the deck is in lovely condition - which sadly, shows that its not used often enough. Wonderfully sturdy cardstock. Strong vigorous shuffling is possible and feels divine.

What do I need to know today? Five of Staves

The image shows three people seated around a rug/blanket. One sits, eyes lowered, another is in full bow before the ?Pharaoh that approaches them. A third is looking at something in his/her hand. A mirror?

They are stationed in the walkway between two rows of statues that lead to a doorway. Entrance to the Pharaoh's palace perhaps.

My message?
Be humble. Know that your means are less than those before you. (perhaps I should have skipped that jewelry order last night) :P

Deck of the Day: Tarot of the Holy Light

This is a beautiful deck. Gorgeous textured cardstock. It feels wonderful to shuffle. The imagery is stunning and detailed. Many things to work from. Rich in meaning and symbolism.

And way over my head. I like ot shuffle them. Then when I start flipping cards over I kinda go blank. I can look and look, but rather than find meaning I end up in a state of confusion.

Even cards that I know well, I end up just staring, wondering, what the heck this that or the other thing is doing on this card.

I know part of this might be doing evening readings when I am tired and numb from my day, but with this deck, its not all thats going on.

So, Gorgeous deck. Truly lovely. Truly beyond me.

Maybe thats ok? Maybe its a deck for looking at, for looking when you know no understanding will come.

Deck of the Day: Sharman Caselli Mini

Love this little deck. Was rather fond of the regular version. Wonder why I let it go.

Sharman Caselli Deck

The mini is small enough to be portable, yet large enough to shuffle and to see. I prefer the mini's dark purple backs to the standard sized hot pink. What were they thinking?

What do I need to know? The Sun

Find the joy and enJoyment in each day. Be open to simple pleasures. let yourself just be happy.

Deck of the Day: Le Grand Tarot Universel

Sample Cards

I've always liked this deck. Like many, I am never sure why I don't use them more.

It shuffles nicely. Silky smooth finish. The cards slide over each other. Lovely.

The colors are bright and happy. I think of this as my Hippy Marseille.

- What do I need to know, Today?: II D'Epee

Today, I see this card as keeping in balance, being at rest, rather than the typical RWS stalemate, frozen in stress type feeling.

Yes, I have a lot to think about, organize and do, but I shoudn't let myself be overwhelmed by it all.

- What should I accomplish?: Le Pape

I should do what needs to be done. Don't slack and fall into the "oh, but I don't Want to!" whining type behavior.

I should "be good".

- What should I avoid?: Ace D'Epee

There is enough on my plate. I shouldn't be trying to contemplate new tasks or add to what I've already got to do.

Deck of the Day: Dame Fortune's Wheel

I'd not used Dame Fortune before. It still has the new deck smell and the cards are stiff. I thought them stiffer than other Lo Scarabeo cardstock, but it felt better after a short time of shuffling. Shuffles nicely for me, as do all LS decks.

I like the backs, simple and bright. The images also seem quite nice. Bold bright, almost too large for the cards to contain them.

But they are not speaking to me. Maybe I've been away from Marseille decks for too long, but i'm just not seeing anything.

What kind of day will I have?
5 of Batons.

The Batons are set up to look like a crossroads to me. Perhaps there is a choice to be made. A decision on what direction I will take. Beneath the crossroads are many crowns.

Which choice will lead me to Triumph?

OK. Maybe they do speak to me. :)

Tarot: The Return

Its been a mighty long time since I posted here. Trying to get back into playing with my decks doing a deck a day - chosen by random.org. Gotta love random number generators. With 288 decks, its impossible to choose on my own.

Today a new to me deck was chosen.  Etteilla Tarotcard, is a Korean deck. Love the images. Could have done without the sticky cardstock. Still, it wants to shuffle nicely, so the stickiness doesn't prevent it being usable.

The cards are numbered 1 through 78 with keywords for upright and reversed meanings.

I was wondering about a work situation. My card of the day:

25 Reversed: Bad News

I'm a bad one for reading books, but in this case its not my fault. Its not in English.

So I guess I will have to learn to deal. Bad news is not what I wanted.
